Excited to be a part of the Indie Sticker Pack initiative

On the 23rd of May, I saw a Tweet asking how many would be interested in an indie sticker pack for charity. I immediately was keen. As an indie developer and designer who attended WWDC once in 2017, I’ve noticed the tradition amongst my peers of sharing stickers and pins. With WWDC online-only this year, a lot of us will miss the in-person aspect. However, being involved in this sticker project has been a great way to spend time with the much-loved community.

I was invited to the Slack group with a bunch of other dope developers. Headed up by Sam and Nathan of Team Nighthawk, we conversed together about details of the project. We decided on submitting our app icons and getting that put together as physical sticker sheets as well as an iMessage sticker app.

Originally developed as an initiative to raise funds for WHO’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, it soon became apparent in light of George Floyd’s murder that we would also like to contribute towards an organisation supporting Black Lives Matter, with the Equal Justice Initiative chosen. All developers involved were in favour of supporting the movement, with 50% of proceeds raised going to WHO and 50% going to EJI.

I am honoured to have stickers from my apps Boomerang, Capsicum and When Did I…? represented. I am also thrilled I got to join in with over 90 indie developers I respect and admire. Charlie Chapman, developer of Dark Noise, made an amazing video for the initiative which lives up to Apple-esque quality.

Some of the other developers involved that you know and love include Shiny Frog with Bear, Christian Selig with Apollo, Brian Mueller with CARROT Weather, Iconfactory with Linea Sketch, Curtis Herbet with Slopes, and James Thomson with PCalc.

The physical stickers are available for a limited time to purchase (until June 24 at 9AM EST) for $12.99 at indiestickerpack.com and the iMessage stickers for 99¢ here.
